Do I need a FENSA certificate for three windows?

Hi folks, as above - I am replacing three windows in a property I have and the cheapest contractor advises that I do not need a certificate for partial replacement of the windows, is this correct?

Depends on what you mean by replacing windows, afaik if you replace the glass (because it's misted etc) but keep the frames you don't need a cert, if you replace the frames, you do.

I took 'partial replacement' as meaning not all of the windows in the property. If glass/sealed units only are being replaced then rjm2k is right, Fensa would not be required for this.

No, you were right first time, it is three complete new windows.

Any replacement plastic frame will conform to PartL. So will the DG unit. I don't think you can buya new plastic frame that does not conform

And yet, some bloke from the council will come out and look at .... well I don't know. Watch him and see what he actually inspects and post back

Bare in mind, that he is only inspecting for compliance with Part L1B (thermal performance of the frame and glass) nothing else
