I would recommend it,
'They' say you should spend just as much on your underlay as you do your carpet and they will both will last for many, many years.
Without underlay, your carpets wear and tear will be emphasised around the main walking parts within a matter of months

The existing carpet already has 'green backed' underla, I think its Duralay? ... probably 10+ years old but looks in good condition - Can I re-use that OK?
