Hey,

I am removing my wooden garage doors from my garage and wanting to brick up the wall (just one wall, lintel already in place) and fit window and door here.

Do I need footings to build this wall or can I just build from the concrete ground that's already there?

If you do it as part of a conversion under Building Regulations, they would almost certainly ask you to put a footing in.

If you take a chance, it may or may not work, depending on how thick the concrete is at the edge, and how much weight youare putting on it.

Very often you'll find some sort of foundation under the garage doorway. We normally drill it to see how far down it's solid.
