Do I need iso valves?

As the title suggests, do I need iso valves on the inlet to my shower pump, if I already have a gate valve on the supply anyway.

Seems a bit redundant having the iso valve on the inlet when there is a gate valve not more than a metre away.
 
Forget the gate valves and fit full bore lever valves.

Yep, swap out the GV's while you are at it. Eventually, you won't be able to without a load of greif. Unless they are Peglers, which is more unlikely than not - unless it is one of my old jobs :)
