I see I have this vent in my airing cupboard which has leaked water at some time. I am wondering if I actually need it as the CH system is open vented and as far as I can tell that means no additional venting is required. Maybe it’s there for some other reason, can anyone comment from the photo please.

It would appear to be fitted to relieve a otential air lock in the pump outlet. The fact it has leaked suggests it has 'operated'. I would be inclined to close trhe cap and occasionally opening it manually with a cloth handy to catch drips to relieve any air that may have built up.
