Do I need to drain whole CH system to remove tails?

I have an old central heating system which has just been updated with a new combi boiler (isar HE30), so it is now a closed system but the pipework is old.

I disconnected a radiator some time ago (before the boiler was fitted) and would now like to remove the tails. Will I have to drain the whole system, or can I get away with isolating the boiler and any radiators that I can, and then allow for spillage?

Once the work is complete, can I just top up the system through the boiler in the usual way?

Thanks in advance

By tails i take you mean the pipework that went to the rad.
Just turn off boiler isolating valves then release the pressure in the system. Either through drain cock or air release or if the the bits of pipe you want to remove still have rad valves on them.
You will get about half a gallon and then it will vacum up. you can then cut the pipework back and use compression caps. Do one at a time

Thanks namsag, I'd hoped that that would be the situation, but it is good to have confirmation. Appreciate your speedy reply. :D
