Hi folks
I am new to this forum and looking forward to benefiting from some great advice and tips.
I am building an apartment for my wife and I (with a child on the way!) in Croatia, about an hour south of Zagreb.
It is a top floor apartment with the roof and exterior walls in place. Pretty much everything else is down to me. We want it to be as open-plan as possible.
I will be putting in a mostly wooden floor with joists and tongue-and-groove. The kitchen area and bathroom will be tiled. The existing floor is reinforced concrete, unscreeded.
I have seen information from various sources indicating that I need to install a moisture barrier before I put the flooring down, but I am wondering whether this is truly the case.
We are an upstairs apartment, and the downstairs is mostly heated. Heating for downstairs is by means of two wood-burning stoves. There is no central heating so I wouldn't say the heat is well distributed, but it's not like the downstairs is exposed to the elements.
I would be happy to provide more details for a more accurate prognosis, but otherwise I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
