Do I need to pay, what are my options?

We were looking to get our radiators flushed through, a company quoted £550 to do this which we did. When they did the work they said that the hot water tank needed replacement the cost for this (inc the flush) fitted was £1550. We agreed to this but since it’s been replaced three radiators don’t get heat over 17oC. The company have been out 6 times but have been unable to rectify the issue (they were all working fine before). Today when they came they now say that the issue is with the boiler. My question is, what are my options? I’ve not paid any money yet and not sure if I should as the system is now not working & I may now have to spend more money with another company as that say they can’t work on the boiler. Any advise on where I should go from here would be greatly appreciated.

You say flush, was this a powerflush? No you shouldn’t be paying until it’s fixed imo, if they can’t then pay them for the cylinder replacement, not sure about the “flush”, as this clearly hasn’t worked and now reduced functionality of 3 rads. Why did you decide on a flush?

is it a standard cylinder if so 1000 quid to change it is taking the pure pish

Not a very effective flush then, what they may have done is flushed all the debris into one section of the pipe, restricting it. Possible they have also flushed debris into the boiler, do that no good too. What was the reason for the cylinder replacement and where did you source this company from?

we were chatting with a friend and they said it should be flushed every 10 years or so and it’s been over 13 years.
yes, this was a power flush.
looks to be a standard cylinder, about 4.5 foot tall
the company is a local one (quite bit) to our town with good Google, check-a-trade & customer reviews.
I do agree that it’s possible that some crud has been pushed around the system a bit and caused a blockage!!
I think it’s safe to pay for the cylinder & labour, but withhold the power flush charge as this hasn’t worked.
I find it strange that they can’t look into the boiler issue as they are an gas safe registered company

In my opinion, only a neglected system will ever need a flush of any type. The flush is to fix issues, such as debris in pipes and radiators.

My own system is 40 years old, and has never needed any sort of flush at all, it has been drained twice during that time, but only for boiler replacement.
