Do I want a Chop Saw / Mitre Saw, if so which one for DIY?

I'm renovating my house, will have lots of joists, floorboards and skirting boards etc to saw through.

Would you advise a chop saw / mitre saw?
If so which one?

I've no idea of budget, but a half decent one would be good, one that will last a while.

get one which does mitres, and which slides - so that you can cut wide planks

A sliding compound mitre saw is a very useful bit of kit. Hitachi would fit the bill as half decent:

Cheap ones are a bit inaccurate and best avoided.
