Some legitimate whingeing at gas-news.co.uk. Easy to blame corgi but it's the ODPM which is requiring the notifications. Many at least of these types of works have "always" needed notification to Bldg Control, but nobody bothers.
Corgi are as ever over-keen to get people to sign up and pay, even though last time I looked their scheme wasn't approved yet.

Major point corgi would cover up, is that notification is only required for new installations, so not eg replacing a bathroom.

BC depts seem to be least bothered, with no extra money to monitor, etc. They certainly don't seem to care much about Unvented cyls.

People say ah but, and point to the Home Info Pack and its need for records of pukka chappies, but if and when that'll matter, nobody knows.

As chris says water regs have always demanded the notification of new bathrooms, pumps greater than 12pm, all unvented cylinders with a capacity in excess of 15litres and a few others that my feeble brain cannot recall at the mo and me reg book is in the van and I am too lazy to get it

the chappies was saying with the meriad of approved etc etc registeration bodies (IPHE, CORGI, NIC, HVAC etc) that you can belong to and all the trustmark and local trading standards apporved plumbers/tradesmen lists you would hardley be able to go out to work with the forms you would have to fill in to belong to them...

its starting to get ridiculous now, also I heard a very stern advert today stating that if a landlord doesnt get a licence to rent out thier property they WILL get a 20k fine

When will labour stop legistlating everything and actual give everyone a chance to do their job without umteen hourss of paperwork to fill in!!!!!!!!!!!

I detest this control freak government but hate the alternative.
