Does this conifer have another life or has it got to go?

Hi all,

Ive Been busy taking up a 18ft conifer and some other bushes today, but have stumbled on a question for you, the conifer in the picture on the far left does anyone think this conifer will regrow were the dead bits are to its left side were it has been shaded from the light for so many years by the 18 ft er?

I would like it to stay for garden privacy resons for my garden but if its no good i fully understand and will have to plant another conifer that will grows fast

PS the branches all across the bottom of these conifers are free to a good home

no they wont, conifers dont regrow on dead areas

You should probably be trimming them back a little more often, big connies are usually dead on the inside where the light doesn't reach, so when you decide it's got too big and that it's time for a trim you get a nasty brown suprise! Should never trim past the green outer growth, in general 6 -12" of trimming each year will do once it's reached the required size.

Leave it where it is and grow an evergreen climber against it. The climber will use the tree as it's framework. If you got a Lonicera Henryi or similar it would do it's own thing, no training required, prune when it's getting wayward and that would be pretty much it.

Thanks for info unfortantly it was the owners before that have left it like that i only been at this house a few years shame people dont look after the garden
