Does this phone exist?

I am looking for a phone that has a very short and quiet ring. I want to connect to a BT landline. Due to the nature of my work I actually do not want a phone that rings but I do need to know when I receive a call so that I can answer it if I am free. I am looking for a phone that makes one quiet beep when somebody calls (similar to putting a mobile into a meeting mode).

Why you may ask?

I actually test peoples hearing. So I do not want to be disturbed when working. However when I'm free I have no problem taking calls.

Any ideas?

its not exactly what you are asking for but you can get phones that light a red light when they are ringing and i think you can usually turn off the and have just the light.

you can also get a thing that plugs into a phone socket, and has an adjustable strobe (I know one fitted in a sound gallery). It's intended to alert deaf users.

Not all people with hearing problems are stone deaf. Some can't hear a phone ring from the other side of the room but can make out speech (maybe with an amplified earpiece) when using it.

Like me. I can't hear the phone ring unless I'm in the same room as it.
