Hi there,
My current hot water system is a vented copper cylinder in the airing cupboard.(hotpress?)
Its has a heat exchanger so that it heats along with my CH system.
There are no zone valves etc so it only heats the cylinder when my heating is on, there is however an electrical immersion element if required in the summer.
Currently I have the heat exchanger valve shut to zero as its wasting gas every time i have my heating on.(i just use the immersion the odd time i need it)
I have done a lot of work to my heating system this year and would like to see what options are available to upgrade my cylinder next year.
I understand Y plans and S plans etc. but im more interested in what hardware to go for to satisfy my rqmts.
Heres my wishlist.....
The current cylinder barely fills the bath enough so i would like to replace it with something a little bigger.
I however dont want to be heating the whole tank all the time if possible..only the odd time if i wish to fill the bath...is this possible...split tank/split heat exchanger where a section only heats the top part?..with a manual swithc/valve if id like the whole tank to be heated?
Currently have an electric shower which im more than happy with but should i change?..and if so do i go pumped route etc?
My heating is triggerred by a honeywell remote T-stat.
Is there a hot water timer/controller that honeywell do that would transmit to my current receiver to fire the boiler and @ the same time energise zone valves to divert the water to the heat exchanger?
Do i need a pump running when heating the Hot water on its own way?..or will gravity work...i imagine my current pump running just to the H Exch. would be too much?
Cheers,
Marty.
