I'm planning on building a garden office and I'd like to have a door chime at the front door of the house linked to it.
The garden office is going to be some 50 metres away from the front door, and there would be 3 thick walls on the way (house front wall + house rear wall + garden office front wall) so I don't think an all-wireless solution would work well.
Laying a cable from the rear of the house to the office is not a problem, but the front door -> rear wall bit is problematic as I want all cables to be concealed and the house is already decorated, complete with laminate flooring. So I'm thinking of doing this:
A. Push button at the front door
B. Wireless receiver at the rear of the house
C. Speaker in the garden office
The A-B connection would be wireless, and the B-C connection would be wired.
Is this something easy to achieve? Can I buy a standard wireless door chime set (button + receiver), gut the receiver and just extend the wire that goes from the wireless reception chip to the speaker?
