Wondering if anyone could answer the following ..please.

I recently had a new upvc front door fitted, which due to lack of space, opens outwards, as we live on top of a hill, it obviously gets very windy and I am worried about the wind catching the door and snapping it off on the wall. I have been told that you can not put door closers on upvc doors as they are sealed units and screwing a door closer into it would break the seal.

Is thus true??

Thanks in advance

Nope !!! The only sealed unit you have is the glass double glazing.

Inside the frame most upvc door have a aluminium box section which you self-tap the door closer into. The hardest part is guessing where it is and depend how big the box section is.Failing that, then you can make a plate with nut/bolt thru' it etc..

Another option is a rope with 2 hooks on the frame and the door which can be a eyesore.
