Door contact switch is closed without magnet

Hi all

new door contact installed and wired up. Veritas R8

I haven’t fitted the magnet yet but using meter the new door contact is already in a closed circuit position.

Have wired using red and black as manual. Any advice.

I put the meter on continuity across the two silver screws in the contact.
