Hi all. I’m after some advice regarding my door gasket for my front composite door. My hall is quite cold in winter and through use of a thermal imaging camera it seems my front door not closing correctly is partly to blame.

The door doesn’t close against the gasket firmly and there is quite a gap in places. Now it may be to do with the door needs to be adjusted but also it perhaps isn’t the right gasket for this door and frame. I’ve attached some photos for reference

I can’t seem to find a replacement gasket of this type but wondered if someone could recommend an alternative that would be more effective. Other doors I have seen of similar type seem to have a much simpler black rubber gasket that looks like a bubble or a letter O adjacent to the bit that clicks into the frame.

Many thanks

@crank39 or @ronniecabers are the first two people who spring to mind who are likely to be able to source the product, or an alternative for your.

Best of luck.

This is the code printed on the threshold and gasket

Yep it's Deceuninck 2800 series pvc profile, the specific gasket for the composite door is code is 2899, probably won't be able to find it online BUT if you Google search for window companies that fabricate with Deceuninck system and contact them I'm sure they'll sell you some, where are you based?

Many thanks. Would you be able to recommend an alternative product that is more widely available. My concern is if I replace the gasket with like for like the door still won’t seal very well.

You need to measure your old gasket and compare with other gaskets available, I can't recommend any as I don't have any of your old gasket to measure and compare to what's online, its generally better to go with original like for like, if you put to thicker gasket in there whilst you think your doing good but actually the door may not shut!

Is your door leaf a darker colour to your frame, check the door hasn't warped or bowed inwards in the corners otherwise your fighting a loosing battle

Thanks for your help this afternoon. I’ll try and track down someone who sells it and buy a small length to begin with to try it. My gasket is very compressed but don’t rule out the door having warped.

I’ve been looking at friends and family’s doors over the last week and they are of a similar style but all seem to have gaskets such as these which seem much simpler imo for keeping the cold and noise out and heat in.

The one I have seems very over engineered in its design but as you have said may lead to my door not being able to be shut.
