Hi,

The instructions for the door knobs I got from B&Q say I need to drill a 54mm hole in the face of the door. This is to accommodate the square pin and two threaded pins for clamping the handles together.

I'd have thought this could become loose very easily... Would I be better ignoring the instructions and drilling three holes, one for each pin?

Thanks,
Dan

I've always done it this way, just make sure the holes clear everything.

I assume these are Weiser type handle/latch sets. If so, the spindle going through the latch mechanism provides the extra rigidity to the handle, preventing it moving around (too much). If worried, go for the 3 holes.
