Hi all,

I am just buying a house and once we have the keys we intend top knock a door from the kitchen into the garage as currently I have to go outside to get into the garage.

This space in the garage will house my washing machine and then in time we will stud wall off the rest of the garage so my fiancés tools etc are separate.

Will I need any planning for this and what building regs will apply.

Also any idea how much is reasonable for this?
Thanks

what building regs will apply.

As above;
You will need a suitable lintel over the door opening; the door and frame will need to be 1/2 hour fire-resistant, with a self-closer; you need a 100 step down to the garage, alternatively the garage floor should slope away from the door.
