I have an old terrace and the attic is an original bedroom. Built around 1900.

There is a staircase going up to it from the small hallway on the first floor. I have an old wood door on this entrance and a small glass panel over this door.

Am I allowed to remove this door and small panel?

Is there a fire risk issue?

The door makes it a tighter space so it would flow a lot better if it wasn’t there.

I might speak to the fire service about it as well.

I think doors on an escape route need to be fire rated when doing a loft conversion, but you would just be removing a non fire rated door.

This is not an attic conversion. This is all original. The door is just a pain, that's why I'm thinking of removing. But sure there is some reg which says you can't

I think the "regs" in this situation state that you can't make something worse than it was before - but you wouldn't be.
