The strip between my hallway and kitchen has cracked along its length in the middle so I figured I'd replace it. I've never fitted one so I wasn't sure how it's attached. I figured it must be stuck in with some adhesive so I started to just pry and lever it up. It is now free of the adhesive but it's clearly physically attached to the laminate flooring - it's free of the adhesive now but when I lever the strip up the laminate flooring comes up with it. Like the strip is physically attached to the laminate somehow.

What's the best way to get the old strip off while causing the minimum of damage? I was tempted to keep on pulling until upwards it came free but the laminate was lifting a lot and if I keep lifting it will cause damage. I can't move the strip horizontally away from the laminate because the kitchen tiling is in the way.

Advice much appreciated.

Sometimes the base is under the laminate and the strip clips in the centre along joint.
Sounds like it's glued down.

Get something like an old screwdriver and try hitting down to break it up. Then careful remove.
