I'm about to dot and dab with 9.5mm Plasterboard ready for a plasterer but have a question with the returns on this entrance.

The existing plaster up to the middle of this entrance is just 5mm proud so I can't glue a piece of plasterboard.

Would a plasterer just plaster up to the existing plaster, or skim over both? Should I put a piece of plasterboard over the lot?

Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.

Dot and dab will level out walls.

Foam sticks to anything. Board adhesive don't stick to painted surfaces very well unless you prime with something like blue grit.

I've used plaster or wood stuck to wall as packer for boards. When happy and board is level then foam up and stick.
You can have 10 to 20+mm gap behind board but normally about 10mm. It's not usually tight to wall although sometimes it needs to be
