Can someone who knows advise me which is best. I have removed the old lime plaster which had blown and now the whole room needs re-plastering, but I can't decide which way to go.
I could probably do both ways myself (diy standard) but would leave the skimming to a pro'
advice appreciated

Most old lime plaster is blown and has been for decades, it rarely causes problems though. Why make a job out of nothing?

Insulated plasterboard is my preference.

There wasn't much work involved as the plaster just fell off the wall when scraped. I was worried that the plasterer would have problems when he came to skim coat.
I don't need insulation.
Any other opinions please.

If its an older building with solid walls i would use lime plaster/renovating plaster then skim.

with cavity i would dot n dab.

If its a bathroom or kitchen i would render then skim.

If a utility room i would leave it store my tools in it and send clothes to laundry.....maybe

Why not thistle bonding ?

Solid walls don’t like modern Gypsum plaster as it doesn't like the damp & doesn't breath.
