Hi

Had a Email from our local 'Police/Neighbourhood watch' regarding thefts.

"Thieves are targeting the addresses by popping out the double glazed windows.

Window companies may call on you and state you require a whole new set of windows but this is unnecessary. All that requires is for a simple solution. Super-glue can be used over the top of the outside beading of the window. This may not be a 100% thief proof method but it will make it harder for them."

Where would you apply the Super-glue to the bead or is the there another method to prevent from popping out the glazing.

Thanks

Errrr , lets think.

Older DG units had the sealing beads in the outside, so a drop of glue would do nothing.

New ones on the inside, So the same.

Already really hard to take out glass, even if its beaded from outside....It is possible but requires time and effort...most thieves aren't into that.

All super glue will do is get all over your windows and make them look a right mess.

Old style patio doors are easier to break into than windows and a few security fittings can solve that problem.

Thanks,

Thats what I thought about the 'popping out the beading' when its on the inside.

That's why the warning about the 'Salesman calling around', if you have the older type glazing units. ?

As much as Neighbourhood watch is a good idea they are usually run by over 60 Prius drivers with no idea about reality.

We pay the £1 quarterly fee towards the magazine which last month suggested having 4 locking wheel nuts on every wheel and some months ago suggested having a tape recording of a dog barking constantly.
