Hi all
We have a hardwood front door with lots of glass, and is the weak point in the house for heat loss but it's mainly noise from the main road that I want to suppress. I have 2 options, the first is to replace the front door but I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the existing (very thin) glass with double glazed units or other glass that would do the trick. I want to keep the amount of glass for natural light.
Has anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Many Thanks
Rob

The glass is on the inside of the door so there is a recession of approx 30mm from the front face of the door.

thinnest double glazed unit is 14mm, 4+6+4.
or if you just want sound reduction you could use 10mm float single glazed.

making sure your door is 100% airtight, including the bottom, will go a long way to make it sound proof and warm.
