Double insulated wall light

The light says it doesn't need an earth, instructions say join the 2 earths together to make the continuity but as in my photo there is only 1 earth coming out of the wall.

Has this light been wired wrong ?, if not do I just leave the earth in a block like it is now.

Yes ,the earth conductor would terminate in a connector block not connected to the fitting ,if the fitting is double insulated. Pic of fitting would enable confirmation.

As you only have one earth conductor ,the reference in the instructions to continuity of more than one dont apply to you. The supply cables conductors should have the protection of the outer sheath extending into the fitting ,but its been cut back flush to the wall. So where they enter the fitting ,especially if its metal ,make sure they are adequately protected.

The only issue i see, is that fitting is only technically Double insulated if that sheath enters that white block and that is used to connect the supply.
Having any of that Red or black cable outside of the white block means there is only single insulation between them and what looks like a metal casing.
It is likely you cannot fit the light without compromising its Double Insulated status.
I think i may be tempted to actually Earth the light fitting.

The fitting comes with additional sleevings to go over the line and neutral conductors ,and is specified within the fitting instructions. Would that not suffice ?

It depends on the light, I would think. It might be all plastic.

I would like to think so, others may be more fussy, as you say routing the cables clear will reduce the potential fault risk dramatically.
