Am I ok to double up on 2.5mmsq cable to increase the overall CSA for a radial circuit i.e. x2 2.5mmsq cables ran in parallel would give me 5mmsq Right? and therefore an increased current is allowed.

Is this a common practice?

So even though its not common practce is is still allowable?

Thanks for any advice

I wont speak as to whether or not it's allowable, but it isn't sensible or practical. You will have to squeeze four 2.5mmsq conductors into each terminal, assuming you manage to do that then you'll have a fight on your hands to even get the socket on the wall without crushing the cables behind. Don't do it.

just take one of the cables right through to the far end without cutting. Connect the to further socket on the radial and ( hey presto ) you have a ring main. That may be adequate but do the calculations.
