Hey guys and gals,

I am wanting to out some down lights in my fish room, (dont worry they wont be near water).

I am wanting to run 8 lights off a normal 240v plug socket, I have read about parallel circuits and I think I have the right idea. Im thinking of using 3 core cable and 10 amp junction boxes in order to flow through to the next light.

would you be so kind as to look at the diagram in my album and tell me your thoughts on if this will be ok.. my biggest fear is fire. so your thoughts on how safe it will be will be appreciated....

Thanks
Tony

Kinda hard to explain, They are going to be built into a wooden tank racking system, I guess the best way to explain it is kinda like what you find in a display unit.

basically they are to light the tanks up as they are breeding tanks so dont have lids, so I have had some glass cut to use a a clear lid, the lights will be about a foot or so above built into the frame.

will a normal 13 amp plug be capable of running 8 downlights? and it my wiring correct?

Thank
Tony

A plug will be okay, the fuse rating will need to be reduce to something more suited to the load and cable/flex. 3Amp should be enough for 8 lamps@50W
Downlights can dissipate quite a lot of heat, so avoid mounting on or near combustible materials.

Thats great news, glad my electric skills all be it DIY level, are acceptable. Thanks for the help, V much appreciated
