Hi all,

For reasons that are unlikely to become clear, I have inherited the attached down pipe mess.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any smart advice as to how to make it look less like a train wreck? I'm thinking getting a square section of down pipe but what is the best option to avoid the horizontal piping that protrudes around 60mm from the wall?

Kind regards.

Go from square to round straight from the outlet. Lose that square angle piece.
Then use 2 x 45 degree round connectors, these can be twisted/adjusted to bring the pipe closer to the wall so it sticks out less, but you'll still have to go over the pipes.
Not much else you can do without putting the downpipe on the inside of the wall.

What's that bare end of pipe doing in the background, and the floating bracket?

Look along the wall behind the downpipe and above the horizontal pipes.
Did this pipe used to go in that direction and connect to the pipe end you can see?

Yeah, the drain was a long way from the gutter, so the pipe used to run diagonally along the wall to the drain. My neighbour was getting a drain run down the drive way, so I asked them to add a spur so I had a drain below the gutter. Someone helpfully McGuyvered the existing setup towards the new drain. Now I want to tidy it up a bit.
