DPC

Dear All,

I've recently removed an internal block wall. All supporting work, calcs and building regs complete. At the base of the wall there was a dpc.

I just want to check that the dpc needs to remain, despite the wall being gone, to protect the new floor.

Where you patch up the floor, yes this does need dpm under it to prevent damp.

Is there a wall under the dpc or the dpc just resting on the footing or oversite ? What is the floor materials ? A photo would help.

There's no wall below the dpc, as its on the ground floor. I guess it must be that there is a footing under the dpc and not that the wall was built on the concrete base, otherwise, why use a dpc ?

Actually, I remember theres a membrane under the floor screed aswell, so why would a dpc be needed at the base of the wall (which is now gone) ?

Safe bet, as you say, is to include the dpc when I lay whatever on top - think it will be tiles.
