A "double worm screw" on the end of the rods gets rid of any blockage ,

Yeah surely rods and much safer(less likely to bresk a drain ) than a press washer or high powered hose? I think I am going to get one

Remember to only twist the rods clockwise other wise the screwed on double worm could come detached from the rod and add to the blockage. ( it IS clockwise isn't it ? )

If you chip the concrete from around the cover you should be able to clear it by hand then run a tap for a while.
