Hi

I have a small pond, deepest point is 4.5 ft. I need to get rid of it. It does have a pump but it isnt working.

Will piecing the fabric liner with a fork be enough to drain and if so will it be fairly quick?

cheers! :?:

Not the best way to go, pump it out. You could pierce it all day and the water may stay put

Remember there are two sorts of pumps, for clean and dirty water - the latter would be best, to avoid clogging. You may be able to hire one, with suitable hose.

If you have clay soil, you definitely need to pump it out. Some ponds have no liner and rely on the dense clay soil to hold the water in.

You can buy a drill pump for less than a tenner which would take a while but would do the job.

A bucket - and tip it down the same drain that you would have pumped to.

Any fish?

As you want to get rid of the pond it will do no harm to pierce it several times and see what happens,. If it doesn't drain several good options have been provided above.

Thinking about this why bother draining it fully, bail out most water with a bucket, pierce the liner then pull it out and fill the hole with soil. The water will drain away and it will be exactly as it will be after heavy rain.
