Drain rods - is there a maximum length?

I have a blocked drain at the far side of my property, around 17 metres from the manhole. I've got some drain rods of my own, and am borrowing another set from a workmate - I think I should just about be able to reach it with them all combined. However, I was wondering if it's OK to use this many, as I would hate for them to get stuck and break off or something, and it does seem like a very long unwieldly length of rods!

Any tips would be appreciated, as I've only ever used them to unblock a straightforward blockage a metre or so in, in the past.

No max, I, plus neighbours help rodded about 60m   just remember keeps turning the rod clockwise, or use locking rods.
