Good day to you.
Glad I have found these fourms - I have done alot of searching and found alot of information that I otherwise would not have done and I thank you for that.

However, to my problem - One morning I work up to the noise of water filling the header tank in the loft - which could only mean that I had a leak in my system. So at 6.30am I had to drain the system, removed a radiator, cut the offending TRV off the pipe (it was knackered) and just put a push to fit stopper on it.

I then opened up the flow of water from the header pipe into the system, went round and bled all the radiators and then switched on the boiler and marvelled at my work as the boiler fired up.

Then within a few minutes, the reset thermostate kicked in and my boiler promptly stopped. The boiler did sound as though the water was boiling before it stopped. I have checked the pump and it sounds as though it is working ok.

I am at a loss as to what I need to do next?? Do i need to bled the boiler itself - and if so do i need to take the case front off?? From what i have read from lots of posting by ChrisR - taking the case off these boilers is a big no (something to do with positive pressure??).

Anyhow, any help will be greatly appreciated.

You have almost certainly introduced an air lock into your system which is preventing the water circulating, hence turning your boiler into a kettle. Have you bled everywhere including the vent by the pump ?

Thanks alot - bleeding the vent by the pump did the trick - as soon as i did that I could hear water rushing into the pump and the pump load up - it must have been pumping nothing but air.

Been round and bled all the rads again - will let system work for a bit then go round and do some more air bleeding.

Again, thanks - my woman will be putty in my hands tonight now that the heating is working again....

Greatly appreciated.
