Hi, quick question - if I drain my combi boiler by shutting off the ch return taking the cap off and then re-opening, and then shut the cold water feed and run the hot taps, is it ready to work on? - so no need to drain down the whole system?

Thanks
Graham

HI

sorry but i think you will struggle if you do not know how to drain the boiler.
1.turn off boiler at mains
2.turn off water at mains
3.release water from drain valve or any ch/boiler drain point.
4.open hot taps
5.rock and roll

Don't forget to open bleed nipples on each rad as well, starting with upstairs in a multi storey building.

OR,
If draining boiler only, close flow and return issolation valves (situated under boiler) close cold feed (again situated under boiler) then drain from boiler drain point.

and watch with horror as they all leak when you fill it up again.
