Draining central heating

hi im plainning to drain my central heating Open vented systems i am aware that i have to Turn off the water supply to the feed and expansion tank. but do i have to trun off the boiler too? thanks pls help
 
Yes, and the pump. They won't like it without any water in them. :roll:
