Draining down hot water cylinder

Washer stuck, full of scale, spindle snapped.

If the drain off doesnt work you may need to syphon the tank if it needs draining.

As above,

Try tapping it with a hammer.

Last one I had to take out the immersion, stick a hosepipe in, suck and drain off into the bath!

take the top outlet connection off. the if you can use a piece of 15mm pipe the height of the cylinder. it then can usually fit on to a hosepipe. this way the hosepipe wont get caught up on the coil if you have indirect and is guaranteed to syphon the whole tank. then syphon to hearts content. either that. get a tray under the drain off ready with your hosepipe. undo and then stick a small flatblade screwdriver up. then place your hosepipe on if youve managed to release the washer.

to drain cylinder by syponing
1 turn off stop tap or flow to cylinder
2 turn on hot tap
3 when hot tap stop running remove hot water pipe nut
water will come out
4 insert hose pipe into cylinder other end out window or door
5 suck on other end
