Is there a simple way to drain an indirect hot water cylinder when there is no drain cock fitted to the cold water inlet?

the coil has perforated and hot water is coming up the feed pipe into the feed and expansion tank.

In that case you need to drain all of it, including the heating side.
You will also need a thorough clean of the system side as it will be full of corrosion residue.
After draining, you can try getting the immersion element out and siphon it off that way.

Turn the water off (or tie the ball valve up) and drain the cws cistern. Just open all the taps upstairs.
Then just undo the draw off connection on the top of the cylinder and put a copper swan neck onto to a rubber hose and syphon. No need to pi55 about with any immersion connection.

Suck suck suck, give it 40 mins and it will be as dry as a pair of nuns knickers. The cylinder that is. Dont hire a nun.
