At one corner of my house I have a waste and a drain pipe (was well as a seperate vertical vent) Can I plumb the drain pipe into the waste (as long as I stop the leave going down it....

Would make my life much eaiser ?

Err, what are you calling a
drain pipe
waste
vertical vent

???
Different things to different people.

Oops...sorry.

I have a waste pipe from the bathroom that is directly below where the gutter drain pipe needs to go. I used to be on the corner but there is a l;arge extension in the way now. I can, witha few bends work around the bathroom waste, but would mena loads of pipes and it draining right buy my back door....whihc isn't really what I want....

hence why I was wonder if I can run the pipe into the top ot the bathroom soil pipe. Taking the water away....

waste pipe from basin into vent pipe from wc....no problem

Hi,

I think I am confusing peopel. Whi1ch ususally means I am doing something I shouldn't.

What I am asking is can I run the downpipe from my guttering into the top of the bathroom soil stack and into the sewer.

Or will the building inspector come and tell me off.

Ben

OUch.... **** into a hopper... Not quite that bad.

No the soil pipe goes straight into the sewer, there is no toilet attached jsut the sink and bath (toilet comes out the other wall which is now inside :-))

All the other gutters drain into the soakway at the back, but there is nio longer a connection to the soakway by the pipe just my soil pipe.

As far as I can see I don;t have any surface water connection yje only manhole I have (actually it's in next doors drive as all the semis are joined) Is that whihc takes the **** away.

How would I find out if I have a surface water connection.

And if I did why would I need a soakaway ?

I figure as this is the 'end of the line' for the drain and the soil pipe was below the level of the guttering it would be OK. I fitgure if it can take poo it can take some rain water...

Maybe South West water may disagree :-)

It sounds like it is a vent pipe.

You are allowed to drain 40 sq metres of roof into your sewers so providing the roof area is below this, you can go ahead.

Not sure if you will be able to use the vent pipe though

Give your local BCO a ring and post back the verdict :D

40 sq. meters  maybe oop North you can  best ask SW Water
