We have an Inta Deluge Optimo Shower, model 10032CP which has given 10 years of faultless service.
In March 2023 the original Stuart Turner Showermate pump that was installed with the shower failed so I replaced it with the equivalent current model.
This morning I have a shower, initially everything is fine, flow, temp etc then I momentarily turn the shower off to use some shower gel and when I go to switch it back on to rinse off, there’s barely a trickle of water coming out of the shower head - why does that happen AFTER you’ve put the shower gel on?!!
The temperature control on the shower still works fine, even with the trickle that’s coming out you can still feel the temp change when you move the temp control but nothing I did could get the flow back to normal.
The pump is not starting up at all.
I’ve taken the hand held shower head off the hose and laid the hose on the shower tray, no difference. We have really good cold water pressure in the house and I’d say this trickle is worse than just the gravity fed flow with the pump switched off.
I've also checked the other taps in the house, water pressure is normal.
To look up the exact model number of the shower I got the booklet out that was left with us after installation and I was rather shocked to see that they recommend an annual service of the valve!!
Really, is that a thing, do people have their showers serviced every year?
Anyway, given that the pump is relatively new, I'm wondering if the flow cartridge has failed or is, perhaps, blocked?
It appears that spares are still readily available for the shower, is it a relatively easy job to replace the cartridge?
Anything else I should check first perhaps?
Any info greatly appreciated.
