I'm trying to seal an old timber sash window. Three years ago I fitted Stormguard Self-adhesive V-profile Draught Excluder plastic seal, but checking today I found that it had almost completely disintegrated. This seal fits between the window and the frame. The window is never left open so it hasn't been exposed to much UV light, but it seems that the weather or something else has destroyed it. I still have some unused that I bought at the same time and that still seems OK, but I'm not keen on fitting it as presumably the same thing will happen again.
I'd like to find another seal that fits in the same place. I need it to seal a gap up to about 6mm because it's an old window , and preferably I'd like it to last more than a couple of years!
You used to be able to buy bronze spring strip for this, expensive but lasted a very long time. But now that doesn't seem to be available in the UK except as an extremely expensive import.
