Drayton 3 port motorised valve

I bought a replacement Drayton motorised 3 port valve which will only work on either hot water or heating it won't work in the mid position and work both water and heating
does anyone know why this might be

You sure the existing wiring is correct...most S plan I see isn't (HW off wire is missing)

Have you got a mid-position valve or a diverter valve?
