my drayton actuator has started clicking when in the M position --- why?

motors could be jumping the teeth.
New actuator needed?
useally if the teeth are damaged etc.

Everything seems OK with actuator in 'H' possition. Switch off at mains and actuator goes to 'W'. When is it supposed to stay on 'M' ?
ok
no it isn't it will fall to it's relaxed position with no power at all to valve.
which is hw (W)
it will only stay in (M) if both ch/hw are calling for heat.
and it will only stay in the (H) position after ch satisfied if you have power on the grey to hold it in last position.
remove the plastic top and watch it operate see where it clicks.
Actuator in awkward position in a cupboard can't see much but actuator is 'rocking' and ticking in 'M' position
and what is calling for heat at the moment hw-ch etc ?

has yours got a lever on the oppersite side to the W M H ?
if so and the cable is long enough you can release the acuator from the valve by pushing the lever and operate it off the valve.
Got actuator off ---what next?
still ticking and lever moving slightly up and down about a millimetre
that proves its not the brass valve causing it.
watch it with the lid off, but it sounds like a new actuator.
Does the valve need to be replaced or can I just replace the bit I've just taken off?
