Hi All,

Hoping someone can help,

In a new build, dual zone heating up and down. On demand hot water no tanks anywhere.

Have installed the drayton wiser, I can only seem to get it to heat downstairs now.

Originally I removed both the blacks with brown sleeving and put my feeds from 1 and 3 from the wiser 1 into each. Nothing happens...

The wiser says you can leave the room stats in place so I did. I just used the wiser chanel 1 into the left black with brown sleeving and Channel 3 into the right black with brown sleeving. Could only get heating downstairs.

Put it all back and un wago the room stats and the black with browns back all works fine....

What am I doing wrong? Old stats attached to show how I worked out colours etc. The unconnected black flex is the return from the wiser brown is live from channel 1and blue is live from channel 3

The additional live earth and neutral are the main supply going off to do the Wiser.

What was in place before you started in terms of programmer and room stats?
Do you have any photos of the original wiring?
Which Wiser Hub have you purchased? I'm assuming as you mention channel 1 & 3 you have the triple channel model (HW + 2 x heating zones).

Depending on your original setup, you may not even need to touch the wiring centre.

On the initial install (i.e. ensure it works) it's easiest to just turn the original room stats to max. Then once you are happy, then these stats can be bypassed.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply,

No programmer in the house originally just 2 of the thermostats I attached picture of earlier cheapy ones.

(Wall wiring same for both)
Brown into live
Grey into Neutral
Black as switch line from room stats, both are the same so that's why I assumed they were the blacks with brown sleeving.

Barring the 2 additional black 3 core flex into the wiring centre that i used for the wiser feed and zone switch lines. exactly as it was. I have disconnected my lines from the wiser and have bridged out the room stats in wago just to get some heat into the house for now as it's still quite cold here.

I have mounted it all in the airing cupboard so would like to wire through the existing wiring centre if possible.

Thank You

Image of wiring centre it is as it was so far I have just left my zoned switch lives from the wiser disconnected and reverted to an as it was situation.

I have as you confirmed the WT734R with 1 and 3 central heating and 2 as hot water.

Currently got both room stats bridged out to take the chill off.

so just to confirm the original wiring at the Therma was

Brown into 1 (Live)
Grey into 2 (Neutral)
Black into (5)

Have you traced back the cables to the wiring centre such that you know which connector each of the Therma's went to. If we number the wiring centre connections left to right, I suspect one Therma black goes to 5 & the other to 6 but you should confirm that.

The black lead in #4 looks like it's the switched live going to the boiler, you can see a pair of orange cables on the other side which come from the 2-port valves.

It's unfortunate there are black cores going into ports 4, 5 & 6. Makes it easy to confuse which is which.

I suspect Wiser Hub ports 1 & 3 (channel-1 & channel-3) go to your wiring centre #5 & #6. You should leave Wiser hub port #2 unused as that's for hot water.

Your wiring on the Therma make sense.

I guess that the misleading part here has been the sleeving of two of the thermostat wires when it should have been all three sleeved.

IE switch line from valves to boiler sleeved which you pointed out. #4

#5 not sleeved poss swl from stat

#6Switch line from each stat black sleeved.

I'll give it a try and report back thanks Ian.

I think one Therma black was sleeved and the other not. The second sleeve was on the boiler switched live core. But you should check carefully.

Note the existing black core going into wiring centre 5 & 6 should be safely terminated in a wago or similar and replaced by the core coming from Wiser Hub.

You should have a look at

as that much better explains the wiring than I can manage.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for all your help got it working and been messing about with it all night programming. Life saver thanks for everything.

Capped off the old stats and marked the blue as a switch line from the wiser.

Thanks again
