Any suggestions on how best to do it?

I've got to put holes circa 30mm in the tile to pass tap bodies through. Drill a series of holes and link with a tile saw?

If you have a drill press get a cheap diamond drill from B&Q for less than a tenner.

The hole ended up needing to be 38mm.

For what its worth, a normal high speed steel hole saw with plenty of water cuts travertine perfectly!
