I've now broken two drills trying to drill holes in my house walls? I'm using diamond tipped masonry drill bits. But the drills don't seem powerfull enough to get through the bricks? I have never known walls so robust. I bought a decent drill a worx jobbie that was supposed to be the dogs, no joy. Anybody advise what I should buy or be using??? Can't even put a shelve up :(

I use a Bosch 2kg SDS and an Atlas-Copco 3kg SDS. Between them they will drill Accrington (engineers' blue) brick and any kind of concrete I've come across...........

You'll find that a 2kg SDFS hammer will perform much better than a non-hammer, non-SDS impact drill. There's simply no comparison. If you do change try to get the budget to stretch to a rotation stop - that wll allow you to chase walls for wiring, use a concrete point, chisel out pointing in masonry, etc and really extends the use of the tool

Scrit

can you recommend a beast for under a ton? and some decent masonary drill bits to go with it?

rent a bosch rotorhammer drill with vulcan drills shown in previous picture should be no problem you can rent them at most rental outlets
