I want to fasten a line of decorative lights up around the inside of my conservatory (like fairy lights but non-seasonal).

I've tried using various types of sticky hooks but they never stick well - probably because the annual temperatures range between -1 and 60 degress C!

Can I drill the UPVC and use small metal hooks or is this no recommended?

Have you tried any solvent-weld adhesive as used to melt PVC pipes together ?

This is just my idea so I would try it on a bit of scrap material to check the effect first.

EDIT

Just realised that the hook material will also be important but you'll just have to give it a go if interested.

You can drill the uPVC but please be aware there could be an aluminium bar beneath....best to use a really fine pilot drill first to see whats behind, and if alls clear, then use a pilot hole about 3/4 of the diameter of the screw hook thread and don't overtighten. If the pilot hole is too big, you'll need to start again.
John :)
