Of course it would, but the cause of the overflow is the level of the water, not the surface tension forces at the surface of the water.

Which is why I suggested the poster check for that obvious event.

The reason I mentioned the surface tension is that the tension will build up and then cascade repeating ad nauseum. This will give an overflow problem that is intemittent, (that means not there all the time Softus).
