Driveway Installer Not Laying Membrane

I laid a garden path myself in mid Jan. My soil is heavy clay.

I didn't use a membrane but a lot of the hardcore sunk into the clay. Perhaps a membrane would have reduced the amount of hardcore used…?
 
Defo use a geo textile membrane. I had 150mm of compacted type 1 and it sunk where my wheels park. The type 1 had pushed into the clay. The geotextile membrane might have stopped this.

Geotex is good for countering localised soft spots.
