hope im asking in the right place!

im planning on doing my own driveway, but have not much of a clue!

the driveway is going to be slabs.

so am i correct in thinking the area has to be dug 6cm down for the hardcore??

then do i put anything between the hardcore and slabs?

do i put sand in the gaps (i feel the need to "grout" as im a tiler  )

any help muchly appreciated :)

Slabs for a drive should really be on a solid bed to prevent them cracking when you drive on them

Whether you joint them or not depends on the slab you choose

I would have minimum 200mm hardcore off solid ground. Then a 50mm sand/cement bed

I don't think you will need a weed membrane, unless the joints are to be just sand

sorry this might jsut be me being thick then! so i need the hardcore on the mud then cement on top??

and the slabs will be just run of the mill ones that you can get anywhere.
